PRESENTING THE CLINIC
The "Odyssée" concept came about in 1988 out of the Odyssée Medical Office, founded by Dr. Ernestine GWET-BELL, Obstetrician & Gynaecologist, a graduate of the Faculty of Medicine of Paris.
It was a matter of providing patients and couples, with quality medical services and advanced techniques in a simple, practical and caring environment. Quality of service is Odyssée top concern. It is a question of mastering the advanced techniques in a team spirit to help the African woman, benefit from the scientific advances, notably, in obstetrics and gynaecology.
The Odyssée Practice changed location in 1993, growed and became a private clinic, “the Odyssée Medical Center ”. Along with general medicine practice and surgery, the clinic is focused on obstetrics gynaecology and more specifically on the problem of infertility. It practises clinical assisted fertilization since 1997: artificial insemination and in vitro fertilization. The clinic took part in the birth of the first IVF baby in Central Africa in April 1988.
The private clinic has consulting rooms, a maternity open 24 hours, a urology service, 15 hospitalization beds and 5 beds for day treatment, a surgery room and a complete and modern laboratory of in vitro fertilization.
The Odyssée private clinic is a center of reference on HIV/AIDS relief for the pregnant women (MTCT), children and adults. It is a founding member of the DARVIR (Douala Anti Rétroviraux) program.
